East Bank Many of you may not remember, but I was not supportive when the East Bank development, along with the Titans stadium, was first proposed last term. My concern at the time was simple: why focus on building an entirely new neighborhood when there are existing ones that still need basic improvements, including streets that flood, missing sidewalks, and limited bus routes. Needless to say, I was in the minority with my vote, and now we find ourselves moving forward with the project. That said, many of my colleagues have put in significant effort to shape this development thoughtfully, and there are several amendments on the agenda tonight. I want to be clear about where I stand. I will be supporting amendments that ensure this development remains focused on serving the community. I will also be voting for the amendment that prohibits additional stadiums on this property. This project has the potential to become a vibrant area with new businesses, but its long-term success will depend on whether it is built with a strong community-centered approaches.
